Cash is 20 year old artist currently living in Bonney Lake, WA. He has been painting since his junior year in high school, and hasn't put down the brush since. In late 2006, Cash started to experiment with spray paint, and almost immediately began practicing in tunnels and under bridges. The subject of the series for the "Spray It, Don't Say It" show at Bherd Studios is vintage spray paint cans produced from the 1960's - 1980's. This collection of paintings is a tribute to the founding fathers of graffiti and the spray paint companies that have made street art possible.

We can't say enough good things about this woman. Soule not only curated the "Spray It, Don't Say It" show, but she is also a fabulous urban contemporary/stencil artist and one to be on the lookout for. She has been featured in the recent "Stencil Nation" book highlighting the best of the best stencil/street artists nationwide. She has been in shows across the US including New York and we at Bherd Studios feel fortunate to have met her and worked with her the last year and a half. On top of all her accomplishments, she is a kick-ass person with lots of integrity and what apprears to be endless energy.

Greg Boudreau - Urban Contemporary Stencil Artist

Greg creates artwork with multi-layered spray stencils on frames constructed of salvaged wood. The images are based on photographs, collected in a variety of means, digitally adjusted and separated to layers. The layers are then printed as architecture blue print plots and cut by hand with an X-acto blade. The process mixes together photography, graphic design, industrial manufacturing, and traditional 'hands-oriented’ artistic approaches. His projects aspire to work against his own constraints of time and resources, emphasizing quantity, size, and increasing detail and difficulty, culminating in exhibits and installations of startling visual impact and ambition.

He was born in Redmond, WA and grew up in North County San Diego in a town called Fallbrook. He moved back to Seattle seven years ago for college, graduated three years ago with a degree in Business Administration, Marketing and began working on an art career. A year ago he was able to switch to working on art full time and currently lives and works in Pioneer Square in Seattle.

Greg was also a part of our current exhibit, "Spray It, Don't Say It".

Ceramic work with Dean

This is Dean. He is the one that I have been working with for the the last 6 months. I caught him in action working on piece that he was just finishing up on.



This is one of a few pieces that we are collaborating on for the mask show that we are having on October 4th called "Saving Face". This is a portion of the chandelier that we are putting together. It has six different faces along with twelve arms and hands that are going to be holding a glass bowl. The colors are going to be black and a light blue.

littlegirllost is a female artist from Melbourne, Australia who stencils to get all that creativity and nervous energy out there in a positive way. Her subjects of choice portray strength and/or beauty, with a little bit of vengeance thrown in for fun. Her works are heavily influenced by her trips to & love of Japan and her love of film, especially exploitation!

Jef Aerosol is our featured artist for the "Spray It, Don't Say It" exhibit at Bherd Studios through September 5th.

"Jef Aerosol belongs to the first and groundbreaking generation of street artists who has inspired and influenced many of today’s big names in Street Art. While stencil street art is relatively new to Britain, Jef started out in 1982 and soon made his mark in cities such as Paris. Using cultural iconography he has tirelessly continued to leave his distinctive and intriguing mark on the streets of major cities around the world such as Paris, Venice, Chicago, Amsterdam, Lisbon and London. Turn a corner in Paris, you might encounter vivid and life size stencils of Jim Morrison, in Chicago Bruce Springsteen or in Venice Dirk Bogarde. On a wall by Camden Lock you could come across Joe Strummer dressed as a spy or around Brick Lane, Gandhi in lotus position on a “No parking” sign."

Because we have so much great urban contemporary artwork up in our gallery this month as part of our "Spray It, Don't Say It" show, we're going to individually feature each artist on our blog.

Asher is an urban contemporary airbrush artist originally from the West Indian island of Saint Lucia. He moved to the U.S. and lived in New York for a few years, and now currently resides in Renton, WA. His art career has spanned a period of about 11 years, the majority of which he spent designing T-shirts, motorcycles, yachts, skateboards, as well as signs for businesses. Recently, he has taken part in live painting at art and music events and has had his paintings displayed in several well-known Seattle venues.
